Sankt Anton am Arlberg, commonly known as St. Anton, is a ski resort and village in Tyrol. It lies in the Tyrolean Alps, with aerial tramways and chairlifts up to 2,811 m. It is also a popular summer resort among hikers, trekkers and mountaineers.

Skiing has a long history in St. Anton: ski instructors from the area emigrated to the United States in the 1930s, helping to popularise the sport. St. Anton was the host of the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2001.

Schwarzer Adler Hotel

The hotel “Schwarze Adler” was built by Empress Maria Theresia. Previously, in the region the Knights of Saint-John established an inn named “zum Schwarzen Adler” in the city of Saint Anton in Tyrol, Austria. The development of the mass tourism dated back from the year 1880 with the opening of the railway.

The Schwarze Adler belongs since 1885 to the same family: the Tschol.
