Postjna Cave

Postojna is a Slovenian town in southwestern Slovenia. The place is famous for the cave with its 24 km long karst cave system created by the Pivka River. In 1819, Archduke Ferdinand visited the caves launching the place as a tourist destination. Electric lighting was added in 1884, preceding even Ljubljana enhancing the cave system’s popularity. It is still today one of the top tourist attraction of Slovenia.
